as a child i wanted -
a retainer and/or braces...so i used paperclips in my mouth. ouch.
long dangling earrings - so i used paperclips in my ears. ouch.
glasses...so i kept my friend's glasses for a week (she left them at my house) she really needed them, i refused.
to have a cast. i ran into walls on purpose, slept in weird positions hoping that i'd wake up and need a cast.
long nails. i put pistachio shells on my nails...and taped them. like this.
AND. i also wanted headgear real bad. when i got it, i wore it to the mall. in public. yes. yes i did.

this is great.
what do all these things have in common? they are broken. ...broken teeth, broken eyes, broken bones.
maybe your heart developed early in such an empathic way.
i loved this and needed it badly today. I laughed. also, I love brent.
oh! also! one time in second grade my best friend and I traded. she got my glasses, I got her strawberry flavored retainer. we traded until our parents found out days later. :)
wow! a strawberry retainer. i don't know why i thought orthodontics were so cool.
hilarious!!!
I used to try and "accidentally" fall out of trees so I could get a cast. And I used to put gum over my teeth, and put earring backs in the gum (the kind that have the two little humps) so that it looked like I had braces. Too funny.
I love your posts. They make me happy.
