take two hot wheels, a princess tiara and call me in the morning

one day i was chatting with elias brandt, the eldest boy of the brandts. he mentioned that he wanted an orange toy car. i'm not really even sure when i heard it, but i remembered it. i finally saw one while checking out at target. FINALLY. yes. these hot wheels sat on my desk for a couple of days and i was tempted to open the package up...why not, he wouldn't notice. now that's silly. so i grabbed a princess tiara on another trip to target and it, too, sat on my desk. i didn't wear it, don't worry.

this afternoon i had the opportunity to spend a few hours enjoying the company of this family. i'm not really sure when i met them, but i do remember talking with erin over pizza at zio's. she reminded me a lot of stephanie mcguire. that was almost three years ago. and now this family has become quite the medicine and refreshment to my soul.

during these hours i learned:
* i can't compete with elias in car-floor racing. dang. he's good.
* sian is shy
* erin hears every word i say and remembers them (holy moly)
* josh plays basketball
* erin will tell me hilarious stories that make me laugh
* there's a post office in council bluffs just a couple of blocks away
* sweet fish are also called swedish fish
* elias will share everything
* elias will also help around the house (groovy)
* central air makes me happy
* being in the warmth of the brandt family is amazing (ooo, i'm so good with this writing)

i'm not always a 'kid' person so much. i get nervous around them. i feel like they're on to me...hey, i know i scare you - that's what they're thinking. but being around the joyfulness and peacefulness and curiosity made my day. it was the perfect way to end the month of july. plus enjoying a sweet meal of sushi with friend brent.

happy august e'ryone.

ohhhhhhh, I love it. and you will love this. I went in to check on elias before I went to bed. he was sleeping with his new hot wheels tucked nicely under the covers with him. oh, and, every hour or so sian asks if her tiara is fixed yet because inevitably the hour before that, she put it on (fixed) only to have the one side break again. :) she is very patient though. I am afraid our scotch tape roll wont last until josh gets home. :) also, the brownie is DIVINE. I ate some last night with a cup of decaf coffee after FINALLY getting the monkey in bed. I LOVE YOU!
