180 miles

i'm still up. i have a bit of a sick headache. i don't really want to take medicine, but i might in a bit. i'm up way too late.

i can't stop thinking about sunday. one of my goals this year was to run a half marathon. two and a half months ago i began training. and now i've run just around 167 miles...and on sunday i will run 13.1. one of my good friends here in omaha is running it with me. her name is rachelle. we've trained together on and off...enjoying each other's company and conversations.

this morning i left my headphones and ipod at home and took off on my last run before sunday. this run, a short little two-miler, took me through familiar roads in dundee. i dodged a low flying bird. i saw the morning city bunnies. i smelled breakfasts. i heard the conversations of birds discussing the traffic on dodge. i heard the crunch of newly fallen leaves celebrating the arrival of fall. and i reflected on the past two and a half months.

sunday will be the day. i want to finish around 2:40 without stopping.

left. right. left. right. it's on.
